The Potjie Pots are available in the "Traditional" or "Enamel" Cast Iron the differance being that the "Traditional" pots have a standard finish namely oil cured and ready for use and the "Enamel" pots are enamel coated for even greater convenience.
HOW TO PREPARE & TREAT YOUR TRADITIONAL POTJIE POT The "Traditional" range of potjie pots are not coated on the inside and have only a protective layer of vegetable oil to prevent rusting and help the curing during storage.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR COOKING IN TRADITIONAL POTJIE POT * Wash the pot thoroughly with boiling water and dry * Coat the inside with any type of cooking oil and heat till oil begins to smoke * Using a paper towel wipe inside clean. Repeat until paper towel wipes clean * The pot is now ready for use and the more you use it thebetter it becomes
HOW TO STORE YOUR TRADITIONAL POTJIE POT After each use wash pot and dry over heat Coat inside with cooking oil or Spray & Cook Store with lid off and absorbent paper inside
HOW TO TREAT & COOK WITH THE ENAMEL POTJIE POTS The Enamel Potjie Pot range is fully coated inside and out in a tough hard waring vitreous enamel that if looked after will last a lifetime. They therefore do not need any treatment or curing and will not rust. To preserve the enamel it is recommended that wooden utensils are used and always was and dry the potjie pot well before storing away.
